True Spirit of Christmas

Christmas is the most festive time of the year. It’s a time when malls are packed with hordes of people trying to find gifts for their family and friends. Commercial establishments probably achieve their biggest sales during the Christmas season.

Amidst all the rushing and shopping, few people truly understand the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Why do we give gifts? Why do we sing Christmas carols? Why do we have parties? The shepherds who were looking after their flocks that special night or the wise men following that bright, bright star would be most capable of telling us why. What then is the reason for the season?

A lot of people do not know why they give gifts, sing Christmas carols or have parties during this season. They just know that they have to do it because of tradition. For those of us who know, this is the perfect time to tell them why.

Two thousand years ago, God sent Jesus to live here on Earth as part of His redemptive plan for mankind. Because of His great love for us, He was willing to let His only Son become the ultimate sacrifice to save us from the punishment that we deserve. Here we see the greatest gift of all, Jesus as payment for all our sins. All we have to do is to accept God’s gift of salvation and commit our whole life to Him, then we will have eternal life.

Many people do not know this so it is our job to tell them. The greatest gift that you can give your loved ones this Christmas is not something that you can buy from the stores. The best gift that you can give them is the message of the gospel. They have to know that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Advent Conspiracy

Nice concept...

Why don't spend less on gifts and more on relationships?
